Tinkatolli is a fun and educational game best for parents who want to teach their kids about saving nature and recycling trash. The goal of the game alone is already inspiring – you pick up trash or junk all over Tinkatolli and recreate or recycle it into something useful.

The game starts with creating your Tinka and customizing its look. Then you go through to a bit of a tutorial to know the basics of the game. After the tutorial, you’re on your own. You explore in different places in the map and unlocking new ones once you go up a level.

One good thing about the game is that once you collect all the junk in the island, it would refresh with new junk for you to pick up after a few minutes. You need this feature in the game since you need as much trash as you can to build furniture and other items you need for your house.

Also, there are mini games in different arcade machines all over the island. You can play different games to earn coins which will help you secure yet more items.

Your Tinka also have a house. The house is fully customizable and expandable. This is one thing that would make you work hard on the game because if you want a bigger house full of furniture, you would need lots of junk to recycle.

Another feature of the game is you can add friends and chat with them. It’s a fun way of interacting with each other. However, you need to be careful and friendly while chatting because most of the players of the game are kids. You don’t want to scare them now, do you?

Although the game has a some nice themes and features, there are still some glitches in the gameplay. For one, you need to keep on clicking to let your Tinka walk further along a path you select.  It does not scroll to the far end of the map therefore, you need to click your way to the end of the screen before you can see that there’s still more space.

Another down side is even though the gamer is provided a tutorial, I found it insufficient and would have liked the developer to provide some direction and hints. Normally, when you get stuck in these type of games you can rely on "Help" to help you through, however, I found some of the "Help" instructions, less than helpful; providing only vague one-liners that did not help me through my blocker.

With that, I give the game 3 out of 5.  Although I appreciated some of the themes: “Save the Environment” and “Reduce. Reuse. Recycle,” some of the fundamental game elements; eg. “Help” not being helpful, contributed to my frustration with the game.
