Free Rice falls under the category of a "public service" or “cause game” because it helps benefit other people as you play the game.  With Free Rice however the utility doesn't stop there. It also serves as an excellent educational game for players of all ages.  I love this game as an educational tool because it becomes more challenging as you become more proficient with it.

When you open the website, the first question is already on the home page, beckoning you to answer.  Of course I started playing right away, but you can also choose to look at different subjects and answer questions in those categories.  The first several word questions I answered were blatantly simple, like “error” and “teenager."  As I continued to play, though, the words became more and more complex.  The game began to challenge my mind after it had a baseline of my knowledge, and that is what kept me playing.

There is not much else to say about Free Rice because it is simple and to the point.  It’s a question-and-answer style game, and there are many different subjects from which to choose.  After you get tired of defining words, you can test your knowledge about anything from chemistry to humanities and literature.  Play the game, help some people in need of food, and learn some cool stuff along the way.
